The Animal Science Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Mulawarman delivers education, research, and community service in the field of animal science with a humid tropical distinctiveness to support the development of a sustainable livestock industry in Kalimantan. The study program offers an Undergraduate (S1) program in Animal Science and is accredited by BAN-PT.
Vision
To become an excellent animal science study program in Kalimantan, particularly in the field of humid tropical animal science, in order to support the development of a sustainable livestock industry through the processes of education, research, and community service.
Mission
- To develop learning materials that refer to the Core Scientific Pattern (PIP) of Universitas Mulawarman and are tailored to the study program's competencies.
- To encourage the development of research groups that focus on aspects of humid tropical agriculture, oriented toward appropriate technology and the downstream processing of intellectual property rights.
- To improve the academic quality and soft skills of students so that they become effective and competitive graduates in the era of the global economic community.
- To strengthen the institution and cooperation in order to achieve an excellent and accountable institution managed by professional human resources.
Graduate Profile
The study program establishes four graduate profiles (Program Educational Objectives):
- Business Practitioner in the Livestock Sector - an individual or group involved in various aspects of livestock-based business with commercial objectives.
- Researcher, Academic, and Educator - competent in developing animal science through education, teaching, and community service.
- Manager and Consultant in the Livestock Sector - plays an important role in managing livestock operations and providing valuable advice to livestock owners or managers.
- Extension Worker in the Field of Animal Science - responsible for providing information, training, and advice to farmers or livestock communities to improve knowledge, skills, and the application of best practices.

Research, Community Service, and Academics
Research and community service are directed toward humid tropical livestock issues: the utilization of forage feed and agricultural waste, the strengthening of fostered villages, as well as the economic empowerment of communities (e.g., the Teras UMKM initiative).
The Undergraduate Animal Science curriculum is developed based on learning outcomes (Graduate Profile and CPL) and supports the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program.
