Brief History
The THP Study Program grew from the embryo of the Laboratory of Agricultural Product Technology within the Agronomy Study Program, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, since the late 1980s. In the early 1990s, several lecturers with an interest and background in agricultural technology were sent to IPB, UNPAD, and UNIBRAW for Master's programs in the field of post-harvest technology, completing their studies between 1993 and 1998.
Starting in 2001, efforts to open the study program were intensified to respond to the need for human resources in agricultural product technology in East Kalimantan. The preparatory team was chaired by Dr. oec. troph. Ir. Krishna Purnawan Candra, M.S. with the full support of the then Dean, Ir. H. Juremi Gani, M.Agr.
In the 2004/2005 academic year, the THP Study Program admitted its first undergraduate (S1) cohort (THP I) of 13 students, as a continuation of the operating license from the Directorate General of Higher Education through Decree of the Director General of DIKTI No. 1364/D/T/2004 (13 April 2004), which was renewed by Decree of the Director General of DIKTI No. 2185/D/T/2006 (23 June 2006). The THP Study Program was officially established on 7 June 2004 through Decree of the Rector of Universitas Mulawarman No. 158/KP/2004.
